What they say…..

Director Anthea Kreston introduces IMA and speaks with students from last year about their experience.

"IMA has been a wonderful opportunity for our son! He logs on with his cello from Minnesota, and is connected to a violinist on Long Island, a pianist in the suburbs of Chicago and wonderful instructors (Anthea and Jason) in Oregon. His musicianship has grown by leaps and bounds. His experience is so much like our experience going to a conservatory - meeting and interacting with people from all over the country who have similar passion and experience.

If your child is "serious" about their instrument, IMA is a perfect fit!"

“We are so grateful to have found Anthea, Jason and Inside Music Academy. The week-long programs at IMA provided our 12-year-old daughter with the perfect blend of rigor and a laid back, fun approach. The program is structured brilliantly -- the day is crafted around private lessons, practice buddies, special guest instructors, concerts and just hanging out making new friends, and playing cool game. I heard lots of beautiful music coming from our daughter's room, but also plenty of laughter and conversation. I consider those weeks with IMA to be true lifesavers and a source of enormous growth and joy. We signed Hannah up for 4 weeks dispersed throughout the summer during which she made new friends from across the country, learned a ton of new music, and became familiar with composers she'd never played before. She gained tremendous confidence through IMA's frequent performance opportunities, and was very excited to be studying with someone on the faculty at Oberlin! The camp is fully virtual, and Anthea and Jason have done a fantastic job organizing the virtual experience like a building at the conservatory. The schedule is very clear and there's tech support on-call throughout the day if anything comes up. Every week ends with a play-along, and they do a masterful job of finding a part in the music for players at every level! If you are looking for a virtual music camp that is really a fun experience, that never feels like work or an obligation, IMA is an excellent choice!”

“Our son’s experience with Inside Music Academy last summer was absolutely incredible. IMA’s format of online classes, private lessons with master faculty, and peer interaction took him to a new level of musicianship. Christopher connected with musicians of all instruments, ages, and locations. He will definitely be returning for a second season!”

Jake attended 3 different sessions of IMA last summer -- the first session was so much fun that Jake asked if he could please come back for more! What Jake enjoyed the most was simply connecting with people who understood what he spent so much time doing! He admired the older students; listening to them play -- whether it is impromptu solos during group sessions, or scheduled lunch-time micro-concerts -- was very motivational for Jake. As a student who loves to perform, Jake also cherished the opportunity to play for others. He also enjoyed the content that is a bit out of the typical Suzuki curriculum. Jake would enthusiastically show us videos of non-classical artists that he learned about from Ms Calida Jones' classes, or the toilet paper Mozart wigs and cartoon composers that he learned to make/draw in elective sessions. We are looking forward to attending again the summer of 2021, and we have been recommending this camp to other string students we know!

"Our kids gained so much through IMA...both musically and socially. Jason and Anthea have created a warm, inviting, safe space to challenge yourself musically, make new friends from all over the world, and grow as a human. The boys still keep in touch with their 'practice buddies.', and their teachers were amazed by how much they grew as musicians."
