
IMA Chamber Music Workshop, July 7-11

This workshop gives musicians a place to learn the art of chamber music performance with daily coaching from world-renowned faculty. Ages 10-adult are encouraged to apply.
A dedicated adult player division is specially designed for those ages 21 and above.
A variety of learning experiences from practice techniques, sight-reading, Yoga with Joe and performances round out this vibrant and popular workshop. Held in downtown Corvallis, in the heart of the Willamette Valley.
Open to individuals and pre-formed groups.
Participants will be placed in similarly-aged groups.
The IMA Chamber Music Workshop features a residence option for ages 12 and up, which is sold out for 2025. Our office can help find a hotel or Airbnb for you.

Schedule
9-10 - optional practice/practice help
10-12 - coaching and group practice
12-1 -lunch
1-1:45 - class (yoga, bow technique, ear training etc)
1:45-3 - coaching and group practice
3-4 - optional sightreading, “group flash” informal recital

Tuition, Housing
Day Camp: $550
Residential: $1,125, including housing and family-style cooked meals
Adults age 18 and over can choose to find their own lodging at area hotels, vacation rentals or campgrounds.
Corvallis is a beautiful college town with plenty of hiking trails, restaurants, evening activities such as the Majestic Theatre and the PRAX Center, and many small pubs.
The camp is located in downtown, walking distance to bakeries, shops, and museums.

Adult Participants
Our workshop gives participants a variety of musical assignments and group configurations during the week. There will be time for sight-reading in addition to our regular schedule of rehearsals and coaching. At the end of every day there is an optional 5 minute “group flash” where you can share your work in an informal recital.
We welcome all strings, flute, oboe, and clarinet.
Music ranges from Baroque to Contemporary. Participants come from a wide variety of backgrounds, from retired professionals, music educators, to recent college graduates.

Faculty
Faculty for the 2025 IMA Chamber Music Workshop are internationally-renowned. Headed by Curtis-trained violinist Anthea Kreston and Cellist Jason Duckles, who have toured with Yo-Yo Ma.
Faculty have taught at the University of Oregon, the Queen Elizabeth in Brussels, Curtis, and Wesleyan University.

Auditions
The workshop is open to Suzuki Book 2 or equivalent, up to Paganini Caprices. We have space for all students interested in learning the art of small ensemble playing. We will contact you for an audition recording if we do not already know your playing.
Deadline: accepting applications, open until filled
Intermediate Students
Suzuki Book 2 and above equivalent. Two 2 octave or 3 octave scales (one major and one minor) and one piece; total audition time less than 10 minutes.
Advanced Students
Suzuki Book 4 and above equivalent. Two 3 octave or 4 octave scales (one major and one minor) and two contrasting pieces; less than 12 minutes.
Piano Accompaniment not required
