      <image:caption>Susan Crawford is a Professor of Violin and Viola at Carleton College, and is on the faculty for both the MacPhail Center for Music and Northern Lights School for Strings in Minnesota. Susan has been a frequent clinician at institutes and workshops around the country including at the Cleveland Institute of Music’s Sato Center for Suzuki Studies, North Texas School of Talent Education, Intermountain Suzuki String Institute, Greater Washington Suzuki Institute, Peaks to Plains, Ozark Suzuki Institute and Alaska Cello Intensive. Teaching at institutes is fulfilling her dream of furthering talent education, while building community and artistry through the study of music. Susan’s students have won many awards and are continuing their studies at programs including Juilliard, Northwestern and Oberlin. Susan Crawford’s most significant teachers include Makoto Kaneshiro, Mary West, Almita and Roland Vamos, Burton Kaplan and Jorja Fleezanis. After studying at University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and receiving a degree in performance, she continued her equally strong passion for pedagogy through in-depth study with many leaders of the Suzuki community. Her major influences have included Kay Sloan, Alice Joy Lewis, Ronda Cole, Ed Sprunger, Carol Dallinger and Brian Lewis. She is Assistant Concertmaster of Minnesota Sinfonia.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Christina Tio earned her diplomas, BA (Hons) and MMus in Piano Performance and a PhD in Musicology in the United Kingdom. She also taught at institutions in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, including Universiti Malaya (UM), University College Sedaya International (UCSI) and National Academy of Arts (ASWARA). Since encountering the Suzuki movement, Christina has been a regular session presenter at conferences and local chapters of Music Teacher National Association (MTNA). She has also served as a Piano masterclass clinician at the biennial Suzuki Association of the Americas Teachers Conference in 2018. She frequently adjudicates at festivals and competitions, and teaches at summer institutes around the US and in Singapore. Passionate about the Suzuki philosophy, Christina considers parent education and developing musicality her forte. She enjoys a thriving studio characterized by excellence and joy, where music making is appreciated as a lifelong endeavor. Her students frequently receive awards at local and national competitions, including appearances at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Hall, Merkin Hall in Kaufman Center in NY, and Alice Millar Chapel at Northwestern University. She is currently a faculty at the Music Institute of Chicago. Also a homeschool mom, she lives in Chicago with her husband and son.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Stephanie Sims Flack received her Bachelor of Music in violin performance from Louisiana State University and Master of Arts from Indiana University where her teachers included Sally O’Reilly, Kevork Mardirossian and Henryk Kowalski. She studied violin pedagogy with Sally O’Reilly (Louisiana State University) and Marla Mutschler (Arizona State University). She received her initial Suzuki teacher training at the British Suzuki Institute in London, England where she achieved Accreditation, Level Three, through the European Suzuki Association examinations. Stephanie registered teacher training in Suzuki books 1-10 following pedagogical training with Suzuki teacher trainer, Ronda Cole, and attended the Starling-Delay Symposium on Violin Studies at The Juilliard School in New York.. She maintains a private violin studio at her home in Alexandria, Virginia and enjoys serving as a guest clinician in workshops, masterclasses and sectionals with youth orchestras and music programs in the DC metro area. She has performed nationally and internationally as a member of the Cambridge Philharmonic (England), Ely Sinfonia (England), Arizona Opera Orchestra, and Baton Rouge Symphony and has spent the last two summers touring Germany, Austria and Italy with her students in collaboration with Washington Preludio Strings.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Calida’s work has taken her around the globe. Her personal mission is to ensure that children who have limited resources also have access to musical opportunities and activities, catapulting them to success, regardless of the path. As a consultant and guest speaker, Calida has worked with notable programs and institutions including the Yale University School of Music, Duke University, the Ravinia School, The Hartt School, and TEDx in San Jose, CA. Most recently, Calida has consulted with the Sphinx Organization, The Cleveland Orchestra, and The Utah Cultural Alliance. Click here to watch a YouTube video of Calida’s TEDx talk. Calida is on Faculty at the Hartt School of Music, is the Program Director for Music Matters and the Conductor of the Hartford All-City Youth Orchestra, serves as the Program Coordinator for MentorU with Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters.       <image:caption>Born and raised in Germany, Korean pianist Yumy Lee Kim made her debut with the Hamburger Sinfonietta at the age of 15 at the Laeiszhalle Hamburg. She appeared at various German TV and radio stations (Radio Hamburg, NDR 3), and was accepted at the age of 16 at the prestigious preparatory division of the University of Music in Luebeck. After receiving diplomas in piano performance, piano pedagogy and a post-graduate performance certificate in Germany, she finished her studies at Northwestern University with a doctoral degree (DMA) in Piano Performance. Being a devoted and passionate educator as well, she currently serves as faculty member at DePaul University (CMD) and the Music Institute of Chicago. Her students won numerous local and national competitions and were invited to perform in venues such as Carnegie Hall’s Weill Hall, Chicago Cultural Center and Northwestern University’s Gavin Hall. Dr. Kim is frequently invited to adjudicate in Chicago area piano competitions and has been on the faculty of Suzuki Institutes in Chicago, Ohio, Wisconsin, as well as the Chicago Chamber Music Festival at Northeastern Illinois University. She organizes the Chicago Area Music Teachers Association (CAMTA) Sonata-Sonatina Fest with over 300 participants and was awarded ‘Member of the Year’ in 2019.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Linc Smelser received his Bachelor’s Degree in Cello Performance from the University of Arizona where he studied with Dr. Gordon Epperson and received his Master’s Degree and Performer’s Certificate in Cello Performance and Pedagogy at Northern Illinois University having studied with renowned cellist and pedagogue Raya Garbousova.   Mr. Smelser is a member of the Grant Park Symphony Orchestra is an active substitute with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, having most recently embarked on his 12th international tour with the CSO.   Mr. Smelser is a faculty member of the Music Institute of Chicago in Winnetka, Northern Illinois University Music Department, NIU Community School of the Arts, the Chicago Suzuki Institute and the American Suzuki Institute. Equally comfortable on the podium, Mr. Smelser is the conductor/music director of the Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra, was awarded Conductor of the Year by the Illinois Arts Council.       <image:caption>Ann Montzka Smelser studied under Kazuko Numanami and Sarah Hersh at the Oberlin College Suzuki Program and later with Rebecca Sandrok and Pierre Menard. In between receiving her Bachelors of Music Education and Masters in Performance and Pedagogue at Northern Illinois University, Ann studied with Dr. Shinichi Suzuki at the Talent Education Institute in Matsumoto, Japan. Ann is a lifetime member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas and has been invited to present at several SAA Conferences. She has served as coordinator of the Suzuki Youth Orchestras of the Americas, and coordinator for Violin at the National Suzuki Conferences held in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Ann became a Registered Suzuki Teacher Trainer in 2005 and currently teaches Suzuki Pedagogy at both Northwestern University and Northern Illinois University. Ann teaches about 40 private students and is director of the NIU, CSA Suzuki Strings Program at NIU and a teacher at MIC in Winnetka. Ann has given several Teacher Training courses in Lima, Peru, Costa Rica, Mexico City and Singapore.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>A “jaw-dropping pianist who steals the show…with effortless finesse” (Washington Post), Amy Yang balances an active career as soloist, chamber musician and pedagogue. Collaborating with leading musicians, Ms. Yang toured with Patricia Kopatchinskaya, Tito Muñoz and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, and premiered music by Michael Hersch at Cal Performances, Ojai Music Festival and Aldeburgh Festival. Additional collaborations include performances with Richard Goode, Anne-Marie McDermott, Ida and Ani Kavafian, Miriam Fried, Roberto Díaz, Kim Kashkashian, Joseph Silverstein, members of Guarneri String Quartet, the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, and the Dover Quartet. Ms. Yang’s debut on the Philadelphia Chamber Music Series followed solo engagements with the Houston Symphony and festival appearances, including Marlboro Music Festival, Ravinia Festival, Prussia Cove, Verbier Academy, Bravo! Vail, Chamber Music Northwest, Chelsea Music Festival, Caramoor, Olympic Music Festival, and Music from Angel Fire.  Ms. Yang is a member of the chamber music faculty at Curtis Institute of Music, and program director and piano faculty member of Curtis Summerfest’s Young Artist Summer Program. She is an alumna of Curtis Institute of Music, Juilliard School and Yale School of Music, where she received the Parisot Award for Outstanding Pianist and the Alumni Association Prize. She enjoys making line drawings and tracing the mysteries of neuroscience.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Christina Tio earned her diplomas, BA (Hons) and MMus in Piano Performance and a PhD in Musicology in the United Kingdom. She also taught at institutions in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, including Universiti Malaya (UM), University College Sedaya International (UCSI) and National Academy of Arts (ASWARA). Since encountering the Suzuki movement, Christina has been a regular session presenter at conferences and local chapters of Music Teacher National Association (MTNA). She has also served as a Piano masterclass clinician at the biennial Suzuki Association of the Americas Teachers Conference in 2018. She frequently adjudicates at festivals and competitions, and teaches at summer institutes around the US and in Singapore. Passionate about the Suzuki philosophy, Christina considers parent education and developing musicality her forte. She enjoys a thriving studio characterized by excellence and joy, where music making is appreciated as a lifelong endeavor. Her students frequently receive awards at local and national competitions, including appearances at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Hall, Merkin Hall in Kaufman Center in NY, and Alice Millar Chapel at Northwestern University. She is currently a faculty at the Music Institute of Chicago. Also a homeschool mom, she lives in Chicago with her husband and son.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Born and raised in Germany, Korean pianist Yumy Lee Kim made her debut with the Hamburger Sinfonietta at the age of 15 at the Laeiszhalle Hamburg. She appeared at various German TV and radio stations (Radio Hamburg, NDR 3), and was accepted at the age of 16 at the prestigious preparatory division of the University of Music in Luebeck. After receiving diplomas in piano performance, piano pedagogy and a post-graduate performance certificate in Germany, she finished her studies at Northwestern University with a doctoral degree (DMA) in Piano Performance. Being a devoted and passionate educator as well, she currently serves as faculty member at DePaul University (CMD) and the Music Institute of Chicago. Her students won numerous local and national competitions and were invited to perform in venues such as Carnegie Hall’s Weill Hall, Chicago Cultural Center and Northwestern University’s Gavin Hall. Dr. Kim is frequently invited to adjudicate in Chicago area piano competitions and has been on the faculty of Suzuki Institutes in Chicago, Ohio, Wisconsin, as well as the Chicago Chamber Music Festival at Northeastern Illinois University. She organizes the Chicago Area Music Teachers Association (CAMTA) Sonata-Sonatina Fest with over 300 participants and was awarded ‘Member of the Year’ in 2019.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Cellist Jason Duckles is from Vancouver, Canada, leads an active life as a chamber musician. As a member of the Humboldt Streichtrio with Volker Jacobsen and Anthea Kreston (both formerly of the Artemis Quartet), he was invited to perform in the inaugural week of the famed Elbphilharmonie Hall, Hamburg.  As a chamber musician, Jason has won top prizes in both the Concert Artists Guild International Competition and the Munich ARD International Competition and has toured with YoYo Ma’s Silk Road Project in concerts from New York to Kazakhstan.  He was a member of the Konzerthaus Orchestra in Berlin, Germany. Jason has been on the faculty of Wesleyan University and Connecticut College and has had the honor of performing in concert with members of the Beaux Arts trio, and the Artemis, Cleveland, Orion, Emerson, and Guarneri String Quartets.</image:caption>

Mr. Fischer is currently Herbert S. Autrey Professor of Cello and Director of Chamber Music at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University in Houston. Mr. Fischer also holds the Charles E. Culpepper Foundation Master Teacher Chair at the Tanglewood Music Center, where he has been on the summer faculty since 1985. Diane has held teaching positions Bard College, Oberlin College-Conservatory and Swarthmore College. Diane is also an inspiring teacher of young students, and trained hundreds of cellists during a two-decade tenure at the Allen-Stevenson School in Manhattan. Diane holds a BFA degree from the California Institute of the Arts, where she was a student of Cesare Pascarella, and a Master of Music degree from The Juilliard School, where she studied with Harvey Shapiro.</image:caption>

Highly sought after as a teacher, he has been on faculty at the Tanglewood Institute, The Quartet Program, Bravo, and the Midwest Young Artists Summer Chamber Music Camp.       <image:caption>James Dunham’s rich quartet background includes having been violist of the Grammy Award winning Cleveland Quartet and founding violist of the Naumburg Award winning Sequoia Quartet. An impassioned advocate of new music, his collaborations on contemporary and standard repertoire with the American, Jupiter, Pacifica, Takács and New Zealand String Quartets have taken him around the world. Recently heard in performance and masterclasses at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Leipzig, Mr. Dunham is also a frequent presence in master classes and international chamber music competition juries. The Cleveland Quartet’s recording of John Corigliano’s String Quartet, written for their final tour, won the 1996 Grammy for Best Chamber Music Performance. Formerly on the faculties of the Eastman School of Music and the New England Conservatory (where he chaired the string department and received the Louis &amp; Adrienne Krasner Teaching Excellence Award), Mr. Dunham is Professor of Viola at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music where he co-directs its Master of Music in String Quartet program.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Kenji Bunch represents his hometown of Portland, Oregon as “one of the leading American composers of his generation, best known for amalgamating traditional American musical forms.” (Oregon ArtsWatch) While conservatory trained at The Juilliard School, Bunch infuses his music with folk and roots influences achieving an authentic and seamless blend of classical and vernacular styles. Deeply sensitive to history, philosophy, and the ways in which the arts are shared intergenerationally and cross-culturally, Bunch incorporates a variety of world music style references which aptly mirror the diversity of international influence on modern American society. Also an outstanding violist, Bunch received both Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in viola and composition from the Juilliard School. Bunch currently serves as Artistic Director of Fear No Music, and teaches viola, composition, and music theory at Portland State University, Reed College, and for the Portland Youth Philharmonic.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Matthew Michelic enjoys a diverse musical career as a soloist, chamber musician, orchestral player and teacher. His teaching heart is to help each individual become freer in their physical approach, to expand their musical perspective and ability to thrive through challenges, and to find more joy as they further their artistry. Currently Mr. Michelic serves on the faculty of the Lawrence University Conservatory of Music, where his teaching activities include viola, chamber music coaching, and string pedagogy. His summer faculty appointments have included the Indiana University String Academy, the International School for Musical Arts in Ontario, the Green Lake Music Festival in Wisconsin and the CREDO Chamber Music Program in Oberlin, Ohio. He has presented master classes at schools of music across the United States and at the national conservatories of China (Beijing) and Vietnam (Hanoi).</image:caption>

      <image:caption>A native of South Carolina, Jennifer Murray has established herself as an exceptional educator, director and versatile artist. She is an orchestra director in Prince George’s County.  She holds degrees from the Hartt School of Music and Boston University.   A classically trained violist, Ms. Murray is an active chamber musician and performs with different orchestras around the state of Maryland.   As an educator, Ms. Murray believes that all children have the potential to achieve a high level of musicality.  She has been active with NAfME and has had articles published in many Music Education  Journals.  She is the current past president for the Maryland Orchestra Directors Association.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Anthea Kreston loves to do a lot of different things. She is a mom of two girls, writes, and craves adventure, travel, and learning new things. Her weekly blog on Slipped Disc was one of the top 5 most read music blogs internationally, and she is the founder and curator of the Fortnightly Music Book Club, an online book club which connects readers with leading musicians and in-depth topics. She recently returned to the United States after 4 years in Berlin, where she was a member of the Artemis Quartett, and Professor at the Universität der Künste Berlin. Her quartet recorded exclusively for Warner, ands enjoyed a hectic and fulfilling international touring schedule. She was also a Master Teacher at the Queen Elizabeth Chapelle in Brussels, and returns to the Curtis Institute of Music where she teaches and mentors some really amazing young players.  She went to school at some famous places, like Curtis, and also at some non-famous places, like Cleveland State University. That is where she got a Women’s Studies Degree. She loves her family - her husband and two kids - this is her favorite thing of all.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Bryce is a violinist and performance artist based in Portland, Oregon. He enjoys work as a recitalist, chamber musician and orchestral member freelancing across the Pacific Northwest. Bryce graduated with a Bachelors in violin performance from the University of Oregon during which time he was recipient of the Jenks Scholarship Award and Concertmaster of the University of Oregon Symphony. He has since traveled throughout Germany with the Weimar Bach Cantata Academy, participated in residencies with the Oregon Bach Festival, and received a fellowship with the Broken Consort. He has also been a founding member of the new music ensemble Sound of Late and has spent countless hours teaching privately and in group settings. Bryce is known for his passion for early and new music, his willingness to improvise and to push the limits of a performance experience. When he isn’t sparkling through the music scene, he is going on runs with his dog, wine tasting, and probably applying more glitter!</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Almita Vamos, violin, is a graduate of The Juilliard School where she studied with Mischa Mischakoff and Louis Persinger. She has won the Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching six times, the ASTA Distinguished Teacher of the Year Award, and has been featured on “Sunday Morning” CBS. Currently, she is a professor of violin at the Chicago College of Performing Arts and the Music Institute of Chicago. Mrs. Vamos’s students have won top prizes in many national and international competitions. Her students play in most of the major orchestras across the United States and the world. ﻿  Additionally, M Mrs. Vamos continues to perform as a soloist and chamber musician in America and abroad, and regularly teaches master classes in Norway and Iceland.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Two-time GRAMMY nominee and Avery Fisher career grant recipient Jennifer Frautschi has garnered worldwide acclaim as a musically adventurous violinist with a wide-ranging repertoire. As the Chicago Tribune noted, “violinist Jennifer Frautschi is molding a career with smart interpretations of both warhorses and rarities.” Equally at home in the classic and contemporary repertoire, her recent seasons have featured innumerable performances and recordings of works ranging from Brahms and Schumann to Berg and Schoenberg. She has also had the privilege of premiering several new works composed for her by prominent composers of today. She currently teaches violin in the graduate program at Stony Brook University. She performs on a 1722 Antonio Stradivarius violin known as the “ex-Cadiz,” on generous loan to her from a private American foundation with support from Rare Violins In Consortium.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Icelandic violinist Sibbi Bernhardsson joined the faculty of Oberlin Conservatory in 2017. Previous to that as a member of the Pacifica Quartet from 2000 to 2017 he performed over 90 concerts a year worldwide in many of the leading concert halls including Wigmore Hall, the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Suntory Hall, New York’s Alice Tully Hall and Carnegie Hall. With the Pacifica Quartet he has received several honors including the Grammy Award, the Musical America Ensemble of the Year, and the Avery Fisher Career Grant. Collaborations include those with Menahem Pressler, Yo-Yo Ma, Jörg Widmann, Lynn Harrell ,Leon Fleisher,The Emerson quartet, Johannes Moser and members of the Guarneri and Cleveland Quartets. He was previously on the faculty of the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.</image:caption>

A member of the Lincoln Trio, Ms. Ruhstrat has performed throughout South America, Europe, and Asia; at such domestic venues as Weill Recital Hall and Lincoln Center; and as part of the Ravinia Festival and the Indianapolis Symphony’s Beethoven series. The trio received a 2016 Grammy nomination. Ms. Ruhstrat serves as the String Chamber Music Coordinator at Northwestern University and was previously on the faculty at Indiana University. In 2014 she was awarded the Illinois-American String Teachers Association Outstanding Studio Teacher Award.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Mathias Tacke was the second violinist of the acclaimed Vermeer Quartet, Chicago from 1992 until 2007. He is Professor of Violin and Chamber Music at Northern Illinois University and Guest Lecturer for String Chamber Music at Northwestern University. With the Vermeer Quartet Mathias Tacke gave performances in practically all of the most prestigious festivals, including Tanglewood, Taos, Ravinia, South Bank, Lucerne, Berlin, Schleswig-Holstein and Edinburgh, to name a few. Three of the Vermeer Quartet recordings were nominated for the Grammy Award. A native of Germany, Mr.Tacke was a member of the Ensemble Modern Frankfurt, one of the most important professional groups specializing in the performance of contemporary music.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Gabriel Bolkosky has been praised for the way he "takes audiences into his confidence and includes them" and described as having "the serenity of a master without a hint of coldness." He is executive director of The Phoenix Ensemble, an Ann Arbor, Michigan-based nonprofit arts organization dedicated to helping artists and the educational community. Bolkosky is a sought-after guest artist, performer, and teacher at schools and workshops throughout North America, including at Harvard, Dartmouth, Brandeis, and Princeton and many Suzuki institutes. In Ann Arbor, Bolkosky directs one of The Phoenix Ensemble's signature events, PhoenixPhest!, an annual amateur chamber-music festival held each May, and maintains a private violin studio.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Currently Associate Professor of Violin at Lawrence University, Samantha George served as Associate Concertmaster of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra from 1999-2008 and as Acting Concertmaster of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra for the 2002-2003 season. While a member of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, she performed as soloist alongside world-famous violinist Hilary Hahn. Dr. George received a high-school diploma from the Interlochen Arts Academy and Bachelor of Music, Master of Music, and Performer’s Certificate degrees from the Eastman School of Music, where she was a graduate teaching assistant for Charles Castleman. She holds a doctorate in violin performance and music theory from the University of Connecticut. As a consultant and guest speaker, Calida has worked with notable programs and institutions including the Yale University School of Music, Duke University, the Ravinia School, The Hartt School, and TEDx in San Jose, CA.
